Letter from the AGWSD Chair – Urgent

Unfortunately the AGWSD are looking for a new Honorary Secretary with some urgency.

Please find a letter from the Association Chair here:

To all Guild Members

I am writing to inform you that, unfortunately, Soo Coates, Secretary for The Association, has to step down with immediate effect, having been diagnosed with a very serious medical condition.

Obviously The GPC are very sad to lose Soo, as she has done a phenomenal amount of work since taking on the role, including working with web designers on the new Association website, as well as all the work on GDPR.

Soo has very kindly offered to produce very comprehensive hand over notes but the role will need someone who is computer literate and comfortable with IT systems such as WordPress for the website and also Microsoft Office 365 for communication.

Obviously, the Secretary is a very vital role in ensuring that the Association continues to function, so it is vital that we can replace Soo as soon as possible – obviously her personal needs have to take priority over absolutely anything else.

If you feel you are able to take on this role please, please do get in touch, even if it is just to find out more about what is involved. Whoever takes on this role will be given full support by the GPC. No-one expects you to hit the ground running and all Guilds will I am sure, give you time and space to learn the ropes too.

The GPC wish to thank Soo for all her tireless work and commitment to The Association whilst being Secretary and I am sure you will all wish to join with me to say our thoughts will be with her over the next few weeks and months and we all wish her well.

Best wishes

Angela Colbridge

Chair for The Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers.
