Dear Guilds,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just a quick update with some news from the Association (in my role as Regional Rep).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Association GPC meeting was held last weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer School 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is now only one month left until the deadline for applications on December 31. In addition to the week-long taught course, attendees will also be able to enjoy a key-note speaker, trade fair, and organised trips on Wednesday afternoon, including to The Jorvik Viking Centre to view their textile collection. As in previous years, there will be a fashion show, silent auction and gala dinner, plus the week with conclude with entertainment from a local ceilidh band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Journal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Winter issue of the Journal has just been published and continues the theme of ‘Colour’ from the Autumn issue. Please do remember to submit articles for the Journal (including for Readers Showcase, or any information on exhibitions or textile events in your area for the Diary). The Journal Blog<\/a> has been featuring profiles of the Summer School 2019 tutors, and also always welcomes contributors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Exhibition 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planning is well underway for National Exhibition 2020. The theme of the Unselected (non-juried) section of the exhibition will be ‘Still Waters’, to reflect the history and heritage of Mills, canals, etc. and pieces will need to be suitable for display on 6″ rings (as at the 2012 exhibition).Members who are planning to submit to the juried section of the exhibition will need to submit a ‘feelie’ piece with the application and photograph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foundation Certificates \/ Certificate of Achievement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the Foundation Certificates and Certificate of Achievement are always looking for mentors. If a Guild member would like more information about studying for, or mentoring on, either, do get in touch or direct them to the Association Website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
