Gwynedd Guild has a membership of 45 today, coming from Anglesey, parts of Gwynedd and Conwy. We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2015.
It is a group of mixed abilities and ages, with some very skilled members who are always very helpful to both our newer members, and with good advice to those who have been with our guild for much longer, and with newer members coming from other textile specialties.
We have a full programme, to include all elements of Weaving, Spinning and Dyeing.
Our guild gets invited to many shows to demonstrate our skills and display our work, these include The Anglesey Show, Caernarfon Show, South Stack, Swtan Cottage, Llynon Mill and other odd days such as Spin in Public at Snowdon Railway, Penrhyn Castle, Caernarfon Castle, Slate Museum,Treborth Botanic Garden. At these shows, we also try to have space for a ‘have a go’ table for both adults and children, which is always great fun. This may involve peg loom weaving, spindle spinning, tapestry weaving, wet felting, etc.
Our programme, includes a dedicated dye day every September, participating in the All Wales Challenge every 2 years, holding a Friendship Day – our next one will be 2020. We have a coach organised by one of our members to attend Wonderwool in April. We have been to Cumbria to attend Woolfest, and the Midlands to visit Quarry Bank Cotton Mill.
New members are always warmly welcomed.
